Tiwa Savage signs Pepsi endorsement deal

R&B-Pop singer Tiwa Savage has landed a major endorsement deal with popular beverage company Pepsi, a deal we are told is worth a couple of millions of Naira.

We are told that the endorsement deal was sealed with Tiwa’s current management 323 Entertainment headed by Tunji ‘T-Billz’ Balogun about a month ago. The deal sees the 32-year-old follow the likes of pop singer Ashionye who was endorsed as the face of ‘Pepsi Light’ back in 2007.

Yea, the deal is true, I can confirm that but that’s all I can say for now’, Balogun told Icon Footprint Entertainment in a phone conversation. Balogun later explained he signed a non-disclosure agreement with the parties involved. ‘I’m still surprise how the news got out so soon‘, he added.

There’s no announcement yet from Pepsi. But an insider tells us there’s the possibility that another Nigerian pop star will be joining Tiwa at Pepsi.

Congratulation to our one and only Tiwa savage for the good work you've been doing. From Icon Footprint Entertainment Crew.

The last 24 hours have been a twist of emotions for Baba Latin…

It’s less than 24 hours since comedic actor Bolaji Amusan popularly known as Baba Latin was rumoured dead and after making sure he made everyone know he’s alive and kicking, the actor has announced the arrival of his new baby.

Reports say Latin’s wife delivered the baby girl this morning in Dublin, Ireland.
The actor’s fans have taken to his Facebook Page which was flooded with condolence messages hours ago to congratulate him.

Congratulation on ur new born baby girl am wishing her long life in gud health nd wealth baba omo tuntun u are blessed’, a fan, Akanke Ruq’at Olaide wrote.

Congratulation my brother, on the arrival of your new bouncing baby girl. May God continue to bless and protect you and your family. I am so happy for you. Its well!!!!’, another fan, Olabanji Odumosu said.
Sources say Latin will head to Dublin to meet his family this Friday.

It’s just 48 hours after the opening of the Big Brother StarGame and the first shocking surprise has already been made!
The number of housemates will abruptly be reduced by one as Angola’s Esperanca has volunteered to exit Big Brother StarGame due to personal issues.

The 24-year-old model and Downville Housemate declared her intentions to leave when Biggie called her into the Diary Room and asked her what was on her mind.

Esperanca says she had ‘made up her mind on this decision and had even discussed it with the Head of House, Keitta’. Biggie has however given the housemate 24 hours to rethink her decision; advising her to discuss her decision with other contestants.

Esperanca entered the Big Brother House with fellow Angolan partner Seydou.
Eviction will still go on Sunday with evictees Hilda, Julio, Maneta and Teclar battling to stay back in the house.

‘Congrats to my brother’ – D’banj hails Don Jazzy on launch of new label

Just this morning May 7, 2012, Nigerian hit producer Don Jazzy launched his new record label MAVIN Records, flaunting his acts Wande Coal, D’Prince, Dr SID and surprise signee Tiwa Savage.

The former Mo’Hits boss has received congratulatory messages from far and wide on his latest venture and even from his former label mate D’banj.

Congrats to my brother and the best producer in Africa Don jazzy on the launch of his new Record Label, MAVIN RECORDS. Wish u all the best‘, @iamdbanj tweeted.

Don Jazzy immediately repiled D’banj ‘Thanks bro. God bless you.’. Don Jazzy then added ‘After Solar Plexus Tomorrow. Tweeps next stop is #Olivertwist UK Release May 14th. your support is needed always. RepNaija, RepAfrica. Oshee’.

In April, D’banj in an exclusive interview with Icon  Footprint Entertainment had stated that Don Jazzy ‘is still my brother’. ‘We’ll still work together in future, same with my boys‘.

D’banj is currently signed to a joint venture deal with Mecury Records/G.O.O.D Music and will be releasing his ‘Oliver’ single in the UK on May 14.

Darey jams with Ice Prince and Jozi on new single

After what seems like an eon, R&B pathfinder Darey Art Alade is planning to bless fans with some new music again.
We have just confirmed that a new single, ‘Asiko’ (meaning ‘time’ in English) featuring South African group Jozi and rap heavyweight Ice Prince will be released in a matter of days.

It will be the singer’s first single since Sisi Eko (remix, Ft Flavour); and the first single off his upcoming fifth album.

Insiders who have had a listen tell us the cut is ‘fun and fab’, and a collaboration fans here, and in SA will find ‘exciting’.

Darey himself tweeted yesterday: ‘my new single drops this week’, ending the message with a smile.
No release date has been announced.

Darey is signed to his own label Soul Muzik, which is also home to the rapidly-rising act Moeazy.

Congratulation Darey from Icon crew

Don Jazzy releases The Mavins ‘Solar Plexus’ album ft. Wande Coal, Dr. SID, D’Prince and Tiwa Savage

A day after announcing his new record label, Don Jazzy has released a compilation album today as promised. And, the producer is offering every single song for free download.

Titled ‘Solar Plexus‘ which  in general context means ‘a blow to the stomach’ or as they say ‘getting the wind knocked out of you‘, the 12-tracker comprises of individual songs from ‘The Mavins‘ – Wande Coal, D’Prince, Tiwa Savage and Dr SID with additional vocal back-ups from Don Jazzy himself.

Other than the intro where all acts feature on the same song, the album sees each act explore their style individually; sort of a pushing their separate brands which in my opinion defeats the purpose of a compilation album unlike the Mo’ Hits All Stars – Curriculum Vitae album where they sold the Mo’Hits chemistry in 2007.

While the ‘Don Jazzy bred’ acts Wande Coal, Dr SID and D’Prince have three songs each to themselves, Tiwa Savage (the surprise signing) disappointingly has only a song to her credit.

Understandably, maybe, because the entire project was put together in a rush., and Tiwa’s signing only just concluded.
Solar Plexus is a mixture of highs and lows as the acts perform brilliantly on one song only to fall short on the other. The production also doesn’t sound new as compared to past efforts.

The album will however produce some club hits that will last for a while.

Is D’banj’s absence noticeable - of course YES.
